Credit Union of Colorado Foundation awards six scholarships

(Denver) - Six students at Colorado community colleges have been awarded a total of $8,250 in scholarships from the newly established Credit Union of Colorado Foundation.

The scholarship recipients, colleges and their fields of study are: Jennifer Clarke, Red Rocks Community College, fire science and emergency medical services; Alyssa Fryberger, Pueblo Community College, welding; Renee McDuffy, Colorado Northwestern Community College, dental hygiene; Tashena Montoya, Arapahoe Community College, early childhood education; Gretel Skelton, Community College of Denver, dental hygiene; and Joshua Thomas, Front Range Community College, ecology. 

The foundation works with the Colorado Community College System Foundation to administer the scholarship program. Each recipient was awarded up to $1,500, depending on whether the student is full-or part-time.  Applicants had to be members of Credit Union of Colorado, be enrolled in one of 13 Colorado community colleges, demonstrate a commitment to community service, and meet qualifications for financial need.

“We are grateful for the support of the Credit Union of Colorado Foundation in helping community college students afford a quality education,” said Eileen Clymo, scholarship coordinator for the CCCS Foundation.
